Here are some
suggestions for the first times you meet
with someone face-to-face, to help you be
your charismatic best!
- Exhibit interest, smile, make eye
contact
- Look for what you have in common,
dwell on what's working between you, or
on what you love and/or are passionate
about, interested in
- Emphasize the positive, fun,
pleasurable
- Match your conversational styles
(e.g. factual, anecdotal, short
exchanges, deep, light, etc.), maintain
even disclosure
- Don't let fear of rejection shut
you down--reframe your thinking to
recognize that rejections steer you
away from unwanted entanglements
- Don't show your warts too early,
i.e. don't reveal too much too soon
about your challenges and perceived
shortcomings
- If you are anxious about
conversations, ask open-ended questions
to encourage the other to talk
- Give compliments: make comments or
compliments about what interests the
other person
